Recently we caught up with Mhairi’s sister (Julie) and nephew (Cal). On Saturday we went for a dip in Loch Meiklie and on Sunday had a dip in Loch Ness (access via Fort Augustus).
This was Julie’s first ever cold water dip, and Cal’s second one, so we would thought we would document the occasion. For most people, there’s always a bit of nerves before going in the cold water, you know you’ll be fine, in fact, you know you’ll feel really good after it, but you still feel a bit nervous (well, I do anyway). So getting through that moment of hesitation and doing what you set out to do, adds to the good feeling. When you are going in with others the feeling is magnified, the energy created is awesome, it’s just a great experience to have together.
This is a great time to start if you are a beginner, but remember, just because it’s summer that doesn’t necessarily mean the water will be warm; I think a ‘cold water dip’ is still an accurate description for it
