Mhairi has a keen interest in health and wellbeing. She has a love for adventure and spending time in nature and tries to challenge herself regularly in different activities. Mhairi is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and has trained in Aerial Silks. However, like a lot of people, she suffered from some injuries and set backs along the way, such as a spell of intercostal inflammation, that turned her attention to wild swimming and sauna therapy, going from a fair weather swimmer to a winter dipper.
Mhairi believes that the cold water and sauna therapy helped her recover from the intercostal inflammation that impacted her fitness.
“The first time I went in the Loch in really cold temperatures without a wetsuit I was really surprised. I had built up such an expectation that I couldn’t do it. I felt instant relief in my chest pain and felt myself adjusting to the cold and controlling my breathing, I knew I was hooked and the community sauna was a great way to share the experience with others.”
Mhairi has spent many years working in community engagement within the third sector.
